Quick Tips

Actionable advice from AllONDECK coaches β€” read in under 2 minutes, apply on court today.

🎾
Technique Β· Serve

Toss the ball to the same spot every time

Hold the ball with your fingertips, not your palm. Toss straight up β€” no spin. Practise tossing alone until it lands on the same tile 9 times out of 10. A consistent toss is the single fastest way to fix a broken serve.

Mindset Β· Match Play

Win the point before the point starts

Between points, walk slowly and breathe out. Look at your strings, not your opponent. Most junior players lose points mentally before the rally even begins. Control your body language and you control the momentum β€” your opponent is watching you more than you think.

Footwork Β· Fitness

Split step every single time the opponent hits

The split step is a small hop that lands just as your opponent makes contact. It loads your legs and lets you explode in any direction. Most African juniors skip it and arrive at the ball late. Do it on every shot β€” even in warm-up β€” until it becomes automatic.
