Answer: D. Two independent clauses need a semicolon (or a comma plus a conjunction). A comma alone is a comma splice.

Answer: B. "Because" says the same thing in three words — the test always rewards the shortest grammatically complete option.

Answer: B. 4c = 6,000 − 1,200 = 4,800, so c = ₦1,200.

10. An academy had 250 students last year. Enrollment grew by 20% this year. How many students are enrolled now?

11. If x² = 49 and x < 0, what is the value of x?

Answer: A. x = ±7, and the condition x < 0 selects −7.

Answer: D. 8 parts of ₦8,000 each; the larger share is 5 × 8,000 = ₦40,000.

How scores fit recruiting

The SAT is scored 400–1600. As rough guidance for student-athletes: 1000+ keeps most Division II and NAIA doors open, 1100–1200 is competitive for many Division I programs, and 1300+ starts unlocking serious academic scholarship money that stacks on top of athletic aid. Many US colleges are test-optional — but for international student-athletes a good score is one of the strongest trust signals you can put in front of a coach and an admissions office.
